Album Review: twenty one pilots 'Trench'

October 5, 2018

It's Friday! You know what that means, lots of new music has been released. One particular release that I was excited to check out is the new twenty one pilots full length, 'Trench'. This is their first album release in 3 years. Upon listening, this is definitely a change from their previous album. While some songs in the album provide a 'Blurryface' vibe (their 2015 album release),  the vast majority of the album is a big change from their usual sound.

The 14-song LP opens up with "Jumpsuit", an edgy and catchy song that definitely stood out to me. The next few songs after Jumpsuit definitely capture that new sound that I mentioned, and I wasn't too sure how I felt about them upon the first listen. After listening a few times through, the songs are definitely growing on me, but the songs on the album that really capture 'Blurryface' and 'Vessel' vibes are definitely the songs that stand out to me the most.

It would be near impossible to choose a favorite song from this album. If you're looking for a place to start, I highly recommend checking out "Neon Gravestones" (a very deep song lyrically), "The Hype", "Nico And The Niners", and "Levitate".
